A 52-year-old man from Spittal was driving a tractor-trailer on the B 100 near the Sachsenburg exit in the direction of Spittal an der Drau (Carinthia) on Tuesday morning. He probably drove into the opposite lane due to health problems.
First he hit the guardrail, drove back onto the road and collided head-on with an oncoming car driven by a 34-year-old man from Spittal an der Drau. The tractor-trailer then came to a stop on the right side of the road after approximately 500 feet.
Taken to hospital
The 34-year-old suffered minor injuries and was taken to Spittal Hospital by the rescue team; the 52-year-old was unharmed. However, after being admitted to the accident, he went independently to the hospital in Spittal/Drau to have his health checked. Significant material damage was caused to both vehicles.
