Sales of alternatively powered vehicles to petrol or diesel have surpassed petrol registrations and increased by more than 32% in both communities.

Registrations of passenger cars and off-road vehicles increased by 13.3% in Navarre and 11.2% in the Basque Autonomous Community last year, compared to 2022.
These data mark a return to positive figures in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa after four years of sales declines. After registrations rose by 5.25% in 2018 compared to the previous year, they fell by 4.6% the following year, 23.9% in 2020, 18.3% in 2021 and the decline was 11.2% in 2022.
The report published on Tuesday by the dealer associations Faconauto, manufacturers ANFAC and sellers Ganvam explains this in Navarrethey registered last year 7,173 passenger cars and SUVscompared to 6,329 in 2022. Meanwhile in the Euskadi Autonomous Community registrations amounted to 24,408 units and represents an increase of 11.2%.
By type of fuel it is worth emphasizing the notable increase in the rest of the fuels sectionwhich exceeds 32% in both communities and already exceeds sales of gasoline vehicles.
This section includes pure electric (BEV), extended range electric (EREV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and non-plug-in hybrid (HEV), hydrogen (FCEV), CNG, LNG and LPG cars.
In 2023, 3,565 vehicles of this type were registered in Navarre and 12,168 with the CAV.
Sales of petrol vehicles fell by 0.39% in CAV (9,611 units) and increased by 0.82% in Navarra (2,829 units).
The sale of vehicles diesel has fallen significantly in both communities: 15.44% in the BAC (2,629 units) and 5.58% in Navarre (779 units).
