The fire in an acetylene gas cylinder caused a major action by the police, fire brigade and Cobra in Hallein on Wednesday evening. An employee noticed the fire while he was still at work.
On Wednesday evening, Hallein in the Salzburger Tennengau was shocked by a dangerous incident. There was a fire in a locksmith’s workshop caused by a defective acetylene gas cylinder.
An employee who was still working in the workshop at the time noticed a dangerous flash of flame near the hose connection immediately after using the gas cylinder.
The Hallein fire brigade responded immediately and cooled the burning gas cylinder to prevent worse. In a risky operation, Cobra officers also intervened and fired targeted shots at the gas bottle. This led to a controlled combustion of the escaping gases, which averted the danger. No one was injured.
