On Friday evening, a 35-year-old man from Innviertel crashed his car into a wooden bus shelter and then into a tree. The force of the blow caused him to fall onto the passenger side and was seriously injured. He was probably not wearing a seat belt.
The 35-year-old from St. Johann am Walde was driving on the L1039 in the Schauberg region (Braunau district) on Thursday around 10 p.m. when he lost control of his car for an unknown reason.
Powerful impact
The car left the road to the left and crashed into a wooden bus shelter, which was pushed into a tree by the force of the impact.
Police say the driver was likely not wearing a seat belt because he was thrown onto the passenger side during the crash and suffered serious injuries.
Subsequent drivers helped
Although he was able to get out of the wreck through the passenger window, he eventually ended up on the side of the road. Subsequent drivers found the seriously injured man and called emergency services.
The 35-year-old was taken to the Ried/Innkreis hospital after initial treatment by the emergency physician. The accident car was a total loss.
