Wild scenes played out Monday afternoon at a supermarket in the Tyrolean town of Wörgl: After a store detective saw an initially unknown thief who tried to leave the store with a bag full of groceries without paying, he gave chase. Fists flew out…
Around 2 p.m., the thief came in the sights of the detectives. He saw the perpetrator stuff a sports bag with groceries and then try to run away without paying. Immediately after leaving the cash register, the store detective tried to stop the man, but the perpetrator was able to leave the store with his shoulder bag,” the police said.
Employees hit
The “spy” then discovered that the bag was on the floor outside. When the clerk tried to grab it, the shoplifter returned, hit the detective, snatched his bag and fled.
Chechen provisionally arrested
But this was short-lived. The alerted police were able to locate the suspect near the crime scene and temporarily arrest him. The alleged perpetrator is an 18-year-old Chechen. After the investigation was completed, the prosecutor ordered the young man’s release.
