An 82-year-old motorist in the Bregenzerwald in Vorarlberg was very lucky with the accident on Thursday. The man was traveling alone when he had an accident in Alberschwende in a steep forest area. When he still wasn’t home that night, his family sounded the alarm and went looking for him.
The man left home in his car on Ascension Day in the afternoon. When the 82-year-old had still not returned in the evening, concerned relatives in Alberschwende went looking for him.
Tire track in meadow led to car
In a meadow not far from the VKW power station on the Bregenzer Ach they could recognize an avenue. As a result, they found the missing person’s vehicle, which had previously slammed into trees sideways at the edge of the forest.
Car threatened to crash
The missing person himself lay outside his car in steep wooded terrain with facial injuries. Only a few small trees kept the 82-year-old from falling further down. The Alberschwende fire brigade and the Hittisau mountain rescue service rescued the injured person and secured the car against another crash. After first aid, the injured person was taken to the state hospital in Feldkirch.
