Following the assassination of Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri in Lebanon, pro-Iranian Hezbollah said it had fired more than 60 rockets at an Israeli military base.
“As part of the initial response to the crime of killing” Arouri, Hezbollah “fired at the Meron air base with 62 different types of rockets,” the Hamas-allied militia said on Saturday.
The deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau, Al-Aruri, was assassinated in Beirut on Tuesday evening. Hamas and Hezbollah blame Israel. A total of seven Hamas members and allies were killed in the attack.

Thousands of people attended Saleh al-Aruri’s funeral in the Lebanese capital Beirut on Thursday. Under tight security, his coffin was taken abroad to a cemetery in the Palestinian Shatila camp. The participants chanted “Freedom for Palestine” and “Death to America and Israel.”
