A trip to the open ski area of a 38-year-old Swede on Saturday morning in the Penken ski area in the municipality of Finkenberg (Schwaz district in Tyrol) had bad consequences. While jumping over a hill, the skier landed so badly that he broke his thigh.
The 38-year-old was on black run number 34 on the so-called “Harakiri” around 10:30 am. Due to poor visibility due to the weather, he left the slopes and entered the free ski area.
There he jumped at low speed over a small hill in the flatter area. For the experienced skier this should have fatal consequences.
Flown to hospital with a broken femur
“He fell and landed so badly that he broke his right thigh,” police said. The Swede was then flown by emergency helicopter to the Schwarz district hospital and admitted there.
