A small child and a woman were injured, some seriously, in dog attacks in the German states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg.
In Essen, a dog bit a 13-month-old boy several times in the head on Friday, the Essen police reported on Sunday. The mother then jumped on the dog and hit the animal.
Dog owner fled into the woods
When the unknown owner called the dog, it released the child. The owner then disappeared with the animal into the nearby forest. The child was seriously injured. The police are looking for the dog and its owner with a description.
