The awakening after drunkenness was bitter for a 20-year-old Albanian who was woken up by the police in the Mühlviertel. Because the young alcoholic, who had slept with the engine running, went straight to prison because he should no longer have been in Austria.
Around 6:45 a.m., police officers in Unterweitersdorf discovered a car with the engine running – the driver was fast asleep in the driver’s seat. After waking up the breath test came back and it still showed 1.2 per mille. That would have been enough to cause a lot of problems, because officially the 20-year-old was now considered an alcoholic: his driver’s license was gone!
The problems became even greater when the identity was established
But the problems became worse when the officers checked the identity of the drunk man. Because it concerned an Albanian who had been living in the Schengen area since August and had never left the country in the meantime. As a result, the maximum stay of 90 days was exceeded. The result: arrest and transfer to the immigration police in Wels.
There are even more problems because the Albanian, who already lived in Wels before his arrest, was not registered there and did not have his passport or identity card with him. Now the twenty-year-old is being deported or has to leave the country and is receiving a lot of reports along the way.
