Operation in Upper Austria – residential building in full fire: residents were extremely lucky

Date:

“We initially had to assume that there were still people in the burning building. The first respiratory protection team forced the front door and flames were already coming out,” says operations manager Claus Ebner of the FF Bad Goisern, describing the dramatic operation on Sunday evening.

Six fire brigades were called to the center of Bad Goisern on Sunday around 8:30 p.m. When they arrived, a residential building in a densely built-up area was already completely on fire.

Initially, the emergency services assumed that there were still people in the home. Shortly afterwards, helpful neighbors gave the signal: the two residents, an older couple, were not at home. The Bad Goisern volunteer fire brigade announced this after the dramatic operation.

Difficult extinguishing work
This allowed a total of 120 firefighters to concentrate on extinguishing the fire. This proved difficult as the flames had already spread, the narrow settlement made it difficult for emergency vehicles to enter and the interior ceiling partially collapsed.

Residents helped with drinks
“With several pipes in the interior and exterior attack, we managed to get the fire under control after an hour,” said Commander Ebner. According to initial reports, there were no injuries. The house was probably destroyed.

The residents of the settlement showed a kind gesture: they provided the Florianis with hot drinks during their working hours.
