On Monday evening, a 65-year-old pedestrian was killed in the Styrian district of Liezen after a collision with a car. A 19-year-old motorist had overlooked the man in dark clothing. There was no protective route at the accident site.
According to the police, the 65-year-old from the Liezen district crossed the Ennstal highway B 320 around 6:30 p.m. and was hit by the car.
Man died in hospital
The 65-year-old was first treated and then taken to Kalwang Accident Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 65-year-old was then flown to Graz State Hospital by the Christophorus 17 rescue helicopter. The man died there from his serious injuries.
Alcohol tests were negative for the driver and the victim
A breath analysis of the 19-year-old driver from the Liezen district was negative. The fatally injured 65-year-old also showed no signs of alcoholism.
Between road kilometers 67 and 68, the B 320 was closed to all traffic from 6:40 PM to 8:10 PM. A local diversion has been set up.
