Heated operations in freezing temperatures in Floridsdorf: The men and women of the Vienna professional fire brigade only had to extinguish a fire on a terrace on the eighth floor of a house on Tuesday evening, and a Turkish restaurant also burned on Wednesday morning.
The owner of a Turkish restaurant on Floridsdorfer Hauptstrasse sounded the alarm in the early hours of Wednesday. When he arrived at his restaurant, thick clouds of smoke were already billowing from the ground floor of the building – as a ‘Krone’ anchor reporter captured on video during his early morning commute to work.
The owner of the restaurant reported a fire
When the six fire trucks and a crew of thirty arrived, the restaurant owner opened the door for emergency services. The flames were extinguished very quickly and the stairwell and the apartments above could largely not be filled with smoke. No one was injured in the incident.
The resident managed to escape in time
The flames that burst from the eighth floor of a residential building on Floridsdorfer Trillergasse around half past seven in the evening on Tuesday were also visible from a distance. For unknown reasons, a fire broke out on a roof terrace. When the Florianis arrived on the scene with dozens of vehicles, the resident of the apartment had already escaped to safety.
Roof protected against fire
The fire was quickly brought under control with 36 men and eight vehicles. By opening the sheet plating, spread to the roof structure was prevented. This meant there was no need to evacuate other parties on site.
