On Wednesday afternoon, a large cloud of black smoke rose over the Kaplanhofviertel in Linz. A car was completely on fire. According to initial information, there are no injuries.
The small car from the Steyr-Land district stopped at the intersection of Wenglerstrasse and Nietzschestrasse shortly after 3 p.m., with flames shooting from the driver’s cabin and engine compartment. The car had probably stopped moving and was in the middle of the road.
The occupants were apparently able to escape unharmed and the Red Cross did not have to provide care.
While the professional fire brigade was extinguishing the fire, an accident occurred: the battery exploded. Fortunately, the numerous spectators who watched the fire being extinguished were far enough away. The fire was probably caused by a technical defect in the engine compartment.
