The Dorotheum is auctioning the first electric bass of Johann Hölzel, also known as Falco. The auction runs until January 31, the starting price is 10,000 euros.
The musician played the instrument in the 1970s and 1980s during performances with the band Drahdiwaberl.
The starting price for the online auction, which runs until January 31 at 3 p.m., is 10,000 euros.
It is a Fender “Jazz Bass” that Hölzel gave to his friend Billy Filanowski in 1983. When handing over he is said to have said: “Do wast amoi vü Göd dafüa kriagn.” A personal dedication on the electric bass reads: “For Bill von Hans, November 15, 1983”.
Guitar cases are also auctioned
Filanowski has now put the gift up for auction. An original Falco guitar case, which shows strong signs of age and use, will also go under the hammer. The starting price is 2000 euros.
