Drivers often had to be patient during the morning rush hour. Now activists of the last generation have also partially blocked evening traffic in Graz.
Early Monday evening, a few people sat down on the road on Brückenkopfgasse between Radetzkybrücke and Griesplatz. They had previously come from a demonstration in the city center via Freiheitsplatz and Opernring.
This also blocked public transport on some bus lines crossing the bridge. However, the Graz Linien and the police responded very quickly and diverted the buses as much as possible via the affected lines.
Construction sites worsened the traffic jam situation
After about an hour and a half the blockade was over again. However, the traffic jam situation was made worse because both the Neutorgasse and the Tegetthoff bridge in the north were closed as part of work to expand the tram network. Small-scale evasion was therefore not possible.
