On the eve of the start of ten new days of strikes in these centers, spread over the months of January and February, the trade unions and employers Kristau Eskola And Aice-Izea They accelerated negotiations to extend the agreement without reaching positions that could have prevented mobilization.
The unions consider the employers’ proposals insufficient and are maintaining the strikes they have called for January 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25 and the days February 6, 7, 8, 19 and 20 which will affect approximately 130,000 male and female students.
In total, around 9,000 workers from around 200 social initiative centers are being called to strike.
The new days in the social initiative centers will be added to the nine strike days already carried out in these schools this school year, demanding an agreement.
The employment contract of the coordinated social initiative centers expired in December 2021. Key demands from the unions include workload relief, measures to improve feminized and precarious sectors, salary increases to guarantee the CPI and measures to preserve jobs.
