The search for a man who may have been skating on Lake Neusiedler will continue on Wednesday. There has been no trace of the missing person since Monday.
The 55-year-old from the Baden district left his home early on Monday to take public transport to Lake Neusiedler. Around 8:30 am he dropped off a package at the post office in Rust and allegedly went towards the lake. He wanted to do a few laps around Ruster Bay with his skates.
Family members are very concerned about 55-year-olds
What happened next remains a mystery to this day. The Lower Austrian should have been back home around 5 p.m. But the man never showed up again. The missing person was reported around 9 p.m.
Since then, the area has been desperately scoured in sub-zero temperatures. The search for the missing person is in full swing, but so far in vain.
Searches around the western shore were expanded
On Wednesday, the search was expanded to the western shore of the lake. Police and fire brigades are present with drones, helicopters and pilots with sonar equipment. The 55-year-old wore an orange anorak and blue outdoor trousers. He was carrying a blue-gray backpack
