The combination of freezing temperatures and rain will create dangerous road conditions early Thursday morning. There is lightning ice in many parts of the country – special caution is advised!
Several accidents have already occurred in Styria in the early morning hours. Accidents occurred mainly on the Semmering Expressway (S6), the Brucker Expressway (S35) and the Murtal Expressway (S36) due to the slippery roads. The ÖAMTC warns: “Please drive carefully!”
But the slippery roads also cause accidents on the Tauernautobahn in Salzburg. According to the ÖAMTC, special caution is also required here.
Truck crashed on company property
No major accidents occurred in Carinthia in the early morning hours, but special caution is still required here. Shortly before 4 a.m., the fire brigade was called to a company in Föderlach because a truck with a trailer veered off the road due to the freezing rain.
“The trailer tipped sideways on a building,” reports the Föderlach volunteer fire brigade. “Because the accident took place on the company’s premises, there was never any ‘imminent danger’ and no intervention was necessary.” The rescue operation was carried out by a private company – so that the FF Föderlach, the FF Wernberg and the police were soon able to move in again.
Weather services had already warned of critical conditions on Wednesday evening.
