Police in the Tyrolean Oberland are currently dealing with a strange (attempted) robbery: On Saturday evening, a masked perpetrator stormed into a snack stall in Flaurling (Innsbruck-Land district) and demanded cash. The owner was chatting with friends via video chat at the time. When the criminal noticed this, the matter apparently became too hot for him and he and an accomplice ran away without any loot.
The attempted robbery took place at exactly 8:24 p.m. After entering the snack stand, the masked perpetrator showed the 49-year-old owner a piece of paper stating that it was a robbery and that he had to hand over cash.
“What is wrong with you?”
“Since the victim was having an active online conversation with other participants at the time and they loudly asked what was wrong with him, the perpetrator may have felt disturbed in his crime,” the police said. Apparently it was too risky for the criminal: he ran away.
Accomplice was waiting for motorcycle
According to current investigation, an accomplice was likely waiting for him on a black motorcycle near the crime scene. The two perpetrators were then able to escape unnoticed. An immediate police search turned up nothing.
Researchers are hoping for clues
The main perpetrator is approximately 1.80 to 1.90 meters tall and slim. He was wearing one at the time of the crime black hoodie, a balaclava, black pants, black shoes and dark gloves. The accomplice also wore dark clothing. No further details are known.
