This mission was certainly not an everyday occurrence, but in the end the Florianis from the Volunteer Alcove Fire Department (Upper Austria) carried it out with humor. On Sunday, twenty men, including two vehicles, responded to a fire alarm due to a balloon.
The Alkoven fire brigade was called to the cultural hall of Hartheim Castle at 4.23 pm on Sunday – 20 men responded in full gear and with two vehicles and a telescopic mast platform.
However, emergency services did not find flames at the scene, but rather a balloon. The toy, believed to be the remains of a party, floated in the ceiling and may have triggered a fire alarm as it flew past.
“Crimes caught”
The Alkoven volunteer fire brigade can laugh about the incident in its operational report: “The perpetrator was arrested and removed with the help of a ladder, although the balloon then escaped unexpectedly through an open window. End of operation: 5:09 PM.”
