Song for his wife – ex-local boss Höckner went among the songwriters

Date:

The former Upper Austrian Landtag member and mayor of Scharten, Jürgen Höckner, was among the songwriters and singers. The 55-year-old dedicated the ballad “Fels im Surfen” to his wife on their 30th wedding anniversary.

“In an incredible time she stands next to me like a rock in the surf. That’s why she deserves this song,” the ex-politician told “Krone” about the background of the song.

He gave her the text for Christmas. “I spoke from the heart, so the text was written quickly.” The melody also comes from Höckner. He eventually teamed up with two professionals for the video. They worked for three months to finish the video in time for the wedding day.

premiered a few days ago
His wife saw it for the first time last weekend. “It was a tearful evening with friends. She was overwhelmed!” The video has now been uploaded to YouTube, and alongside a thoughtful Höckner, clips from the wedding and a joint dance routine of the couple are shown, Höckner’s words are rather self-critical.

“I wanted to make sure you lacked nothing. But what really matters to you in life is family, not fame or money. The reactions to the song have to build up Höckner. In addition to many congratulations, there are also many constructive words.

resigned as politician
As reported, Höckner was forced to leave the mayor’s office in November after resigning as a state politician. He was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for rape and sexual harassment. Höckner has always protested his innocence, most recently appealing the verdict.

The second issue is already being worked on
Perhaps this topic will be wrapped up in song soon. “A second issue is already in the works. It will be something critical,” says Höckner.

“solid as a rock”
first verse
It must be clear to you what you are to me.
I wanted to be there for you when you miss me.
I wanted to be close to you wherever you are.
It should be a “yes” that you never forget.
I wanted to protect you from any danger.
I wanted to protect you anyway.
I wanted to be there too, no matter how hard the time was. I wanted to be the rock, whether it’s storming or snowing.

omission
Now it’s you holding me
Who protects me.
That doesn’t make me despair.
you keep holding me
Now you’re my rock, no waves will hit me.
That’s why I love you – as long as I can love!
