A British tourist will probably have bad memories of his visit to Linz. The 42-year-old was the victim of a wild knife attack on Tuesday morning while walking in the main square of Linz. The strange thing: the victim was a former British soldier who was stationed in Afghanistan, among other places.
The Briton always survived his combat missions in crisis areas without injury. The 42-year-old did not expect to be injured in the capital of Upper Austria.
Watched too long
The dangerous knife attack took place on Tuesday around 8:30 am on the main square of Linz. After the Brit apparently looked a scantily clad stranger in the eye for a little too long, the stranger pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the shoulder without saying a word.
Only wear shorts
Despite the winter temperatures, the perpetrator only wore black shorts. His outer clothing was also black. The attacker is believed to be about 1.70 meters tall and has a tattoo on his lower right leg. According to the victim, he had short-cropped hair and a full black beard.
After being stabbed, the unknown man fled, but a search turned up nothing. A passerby (51) from Traun helped the bleeding Briton and started the rescue chain. The knife had penetrated to the bone. The 42-year-old was taken to hospital and received medical attention. Fortunately, his life is not in danger.
