Next Boeing breakdown: passenger plane lost a nose gear shortly before takeoff

Date:

After the near-disaster on board a Boeing 737-9 Max passenger plane, in which a cabin part suddenly broke away, another dangerous malfunction has now occurred on a Boeing aircraft. Shortly before takeoff, a plane serving Delta Air Lines in Atlanta lost a nose gear. This was noticed by the pilot of another aircraft.

The Boeing 757 with 184 passengers on board was preparing to take off to Bogota (Colombia) on Saturday morning when suddenly the radio message was heard: “Delta 982, this is the plane looking at you. One of your front tires just fell off.”

The take-off was immediately aborted and subsequent aircraft were diverted to other runways while they searched for the rolled wheel. The Boeing 757 was stranded on the tarmac for about three hours. The affected passengers had to take a replacement flight, but were very lucky. Because it could have been more dangerous for them if the missing nose gear had only been discovered later.

The investigation into the crack in the cabin part is still ongoing
Delta Air Lines has not yet responded to the incident. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident. The inspection of 170 Boeing 737-9 Max will probably take even longer after a cabin part including window was torn off from an aircraft on its way from Portland in the state of Oregon to Ontario Airport (California) shortly after take-off at the beginning of this year.

In the incident, about 170 passengers escaped in horror, even though there was a hole in the fuselage. At the same time, experts pointed out that by a fortunate coincidence, the two seats directly next to the broken-out part of the fuselage remained empty. During the investigation, loose screws of the same part were discovered in other Boeing 737-9 Max. It is not known how many aircraft are involved.
