3.5 years after the crime, the weapons ban makes police officers fear for their existence

Date:

A police officer from Lower Austria fought the conviction for bodily harm and coercion until the last moment. Because the Supreme Court also disagreed with him, the private weapons ban was followed by the confiscation of the service weapon that he had used for years after the crime. The police officer sees his existence threatened. The state police want to re-investigate the ‘old’ case.

It is probably neither consistent nor accurate to compare a police officer without a gun to a predator without fangs, as some even do. Nevertheless, the withdrawal of such a position can also take on dimensions that threaten the survival of the law enforcement officer, because the executive officer is no longer difficult to employ and he loses all allowances in addition to his salary.
