Gruesome scenes may have taken place on Thursday in an apartment in Zell am Ziller in Tyrol’s Zillertal: according to police, a pensioner murdered his wife, who needed care, and then committed suicide.
The police initially did not want to provide any further information about the case. According to deputy LKA chief Gert Hofmann, the police currently assume that the crime took place on Thursday evening or Friday evening. The 78-year-old husband is said to have suffocated his wife (72), after which the Austrian apparently took his own life.
The couple was found by one of their children on Friday morning. According to the police, the 72-year-old needed great care and her husband had taken over the care.
Autopsy next Monday
An autopsy of the bodies has been ordered and is scheduled for Monday, according to Hofmann. The State Criminal Investigation Department is currently busy conducting further investigations in the area and conducting a detailed investigation of the crime scene.
