On Saturday, a 10-year-old was with her father on a toboggan run in the Salzstiegl ski area. For unknown reasons, the 39-year-old fell, came off the toboggan run and was left seriously injured, 20 meters away in a stream bed.
The daughter then informed the lift staff, who immediately alerted the slope rescuers from the Voitsberg Mountain Rescue Service. The person who fell could not be located from the toboggan run. Only on the daughter’s advice was it possible to reach the seriously injured man.
The mountain rescue teams, together with the Salzstiegl team, provided emergency medical assistance to the injured person. An emergency medical helicopter was also requested from the Styrian State Warning Center to provide further care. The injured man was carefully rescued from the impassable terrain in a special stretcher using a rope and handed over to the crew of the Christophorus 12 emergency medical helicopter.
