On Monday afternoon there was a daring escape by a duo in Vienna-Brigittenau. A police officer in plain clothes was able to save himself from a duo’s BMW just in time by jumping aside.
But all from the start: A 19-year-old entered a Brigittenau police station around 4pm claiming he owed an average four-figure sum of money to a 23-year-old and a 25-year-old. These two would now threaten to kill him.
Meeting point agreed with creditor
While the debtor was still talking to the police, one of the creditors called him and said that something would happen to him if he did not return the money. A meeting point was arranged in Heiligenstadt, where not only the 19-year-old appeared, but also several plainclothes police officers.
Several cars damaged
At the meeting point they saw two men in a BMW. It is still unclear whether the suspects realized they were law enforcement officers or not. Anyway, they sped up and fled. A police officer was barely able to jump to safety by jumping out of the way of the getaway car. The duo also seriously damaged an uninvolved car.
Duo turned himself in to the police
The two managed to escape. The BMW was found parked on the Döblinger Belt shortly afterwards. The 23-year-old and the 25-year-old turned themselves in to the police several hours later. They confirmed that the 19-year-old owed them money, but estimated the amount to be significantly lower – in the lower four-figure range. They were reported in general and an entry and approach ban and a temporary weapons ban were imposed on them.
