Within a few weeks, another U.S. Army F-16 fighter jet crashed in South Korea during a sea flight. The pilot was able to save himself via the ejection seat.
According to a statement from the 8th Fighter Squadron at the US military base in Kunsan, the pilot was pulled from the water near Kunsan off the west coast and was conscious. An emergency occurred during the flight, the report said. Details were initially unknown.
First crash in December
In December, an F-16 fighter jet from the same squadron also crashed over the sea between the Korean Peninsula and China during a training flight. The pilot then also survived. The US has 28,500 troops stationed in South Korea.
