The Minister of Transport of the Basque Government, Iñaki Arriola, has also announced that the platform for the Gipuzkoa section will be completed before the end of the legislature.
The platforms of the Biscayan, Guipuzcoan and Alava sections of the high-speed train (TAV) is finished in the first half of 2025as announced on Wednesday by the Secretary of State for Transport, José Antonio Santano.
Santano, Mayor of Irun (Gipuzkoa), hosted today in Bilbao the Basque Minister of Territorial Planning, Housing and Transport, Iñaki Arriola, in his speech at the “Forum Europa. Tribuna Euskadi”.
For its part, Arriola has also announced that the platform of the Guipuzcoan sectionbuilt by the Basque government under the encomienda regime, will be completed before the end of the current legislative termthere are only a few months left.
Likewise, inside 2026 the work could begin access tunnel from high speed to Bilbaowhich will connect Basauri to Abando station with a route of over six kilometers.
The counsel, like Santano, has recognized that Basque citizens are “tired, angry and suspicious” with the duration of the work on this infrastructure, which started in 2006, and both have ensured that “the horizon is brighter” and that “the end is illuminated”although they have admitted that “there are still years to go.”
At the moment, calculations indicate that the investment will reach high speed in Euskadi 4000 million euroswithout counting the entrances and stations of Bilbao and Vitoria, which would add another 2000 million.
