Will voters find a new party on the ballot besides the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance and the Union of Values at the next parliamentary elections in Germany? Apparently the controversial Democratic Alliance for Diversity and Awakening (Dava), which is said to have close ties to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is also planning to participate.
“We first want to concentrate on the European elections and see to what extent we can mobilize our potential voters,” Dava boss Teyfik Özcan told the editorial network Germany on Thursday. Then they want to settle nationally.
Dava should be turned into a celebration
It is currently still a political association. “But the long-term plan is to transform Dava into a party.” Özcan strongly rejected any direct connection with Erdogan’s AKP party: “We have no contacts with the Erdogan government or other foreign governments.”
On the other hand, critical voices against the Dava come from politics. “The leadership of the party can be assigned to the AKP lobby, the Islamist IGMG, but also to the banned Hamas fundraising association IHH,” CDU Bundestag member Christoph de Vries wrote on the X platform (formerly Twitter).
Agriculture Minister: “We don’t need Erdogan’s offshoots”
German Agriculture Minister Cem Özdemir wrote about word. The chairman of the Turkish community in Germany, Gökay Sofuoglu, told the editorial network: “I see no reason to panic. A party that is based solely on ethnic criteria and focuses only on ethnic issues has only a marginal function.”
