The 28-year-old did not want to “get hit” himself. Now he is on trial for failing to provide assistance. And pleaded not guilty. But there is video of the incident.
A powerful encounter at the end of August last year in front of a bar in St. Pölten has now had consequences in court. After an alcoholic 33-year-old tried to enter the restaurant despite a ban, the bouncer and a 56-year-old guest stood in his way. Visibly angry about the unexpected ‘barricade’, the two killjoys were showered with wild insults.
Video as proof
Probably too much for the 56-year-old, he knocked the 33-year-old down with a punch. After which he lay unconscious on the ground. While the criminal walked calmly into the restaurant, the bouncer stood quietly in front of the entrance. Now the 28-year-old had to appear before the court in St. Pölten for failing to provide assistance. And pleaded not guilty.
The public prosecutor is trying to find out why he did not act. “I didn’t want to get one either. We had a good conversation beforehand,” he explains. After both the criminal and another witness went missing, the trial was postponed.
