Three people were injured in a knife attack at a train station in Paris on Saturday morning. The suspected perpetrator has been arrested, the motive for the crime is unclear, police said.
The bloody attack took place around 8 a.m. at the major railway junction Gare de Lyon, which serves domestic trains as well as trains to Switzerland and Italy. According to an initial preliminary assessment, one person was seriously injured and two others were slightly injured.
The arrested man “didn’t shout anything” during the attack, police sources said. The suspect showed the officers an Italian driver’s license.
As railway company SNCF announced on the online service X (formerly Twitter), the area between station halls one and three was temporarily closed. It was said that there would be disruption to train traffic.
