An unknown driver caused extensive damage with his semi-trailer in the Innviertler municipality of Hochburg-Ach. The heavy vehicle destroyed two bridge railings and caused damage to the land. Now we are frantically looking for the driver and hoping his insurance will pay out.
It was around 2:30 PM on Tuesday when a semi-trailer truck drove over a small, narrow bridge near the Jungwirth inn in the town of Wanghausen (Hochburg-Ach), destroying both railings and causing significant damage to the site. The formed tubes were torn from their anchorage and bent. A road sign stand and wooden fencing were also toppled.
The community is having the bridge inspected
However, the unknown driver did not stop and committed a collision. “The damage is extensive, we now have to have an expert check the load-bearing capacity of the bridge,” says Mayor Martin Zimmer. If the stream crossing had to be rebuilt, it would cost the community $25,000. “We are therefore urgently looking for the driver. The tow vehicle was white, the trailer had a gray tarpaulin,” Zimmer said.
