The climax is yet to come. Warning: wind gusts of around 110 km/h are threatened

Date:

The Austrian Severe Weather Center (UWZ) already warned of heavy showers on Sunday. However, the peak of the storm is still ahead of us! Wind gusts of up to 110 km/h are expected until Monday afternoon. In some places the weather is already causing chaos…

In Lower Austria, Vienna and Burgenland, a red warning level applies, just like on Sunday, in Upper and Lower Austria, but also in Vienna and northern Styria there are already gusts of wind up to 100 km/h. Especially in these regions, the wind is expected to continue blowing strongly until the afternoon. According to the Austrian Severe Weather Center, speeds of 110 km/h are possible on the eastern edge of the Alps.

Slovaks are still in mountainous distress
The storm has already caused a stir among some people. For example with the Grossglockner. Two mountain climbers got into trouble there on Sunday evening when a stone fell. The two Slovaks were on the north side when the accident occurred. They were injured. A rescue team was immediately dispatched. However, the helicopter rescue had to be canceled due to strong winds. A new rescue attempt will be made at daylight on Monday morning.

Moreover, the heavy storm raged over Kottingbrunn (Baden district) on Sunday evening. The L151 and other streets had to be closed for almost two hours because the roof of a company hall was covered. In addition, a glass facade of the building was destroyed by the storm.

Monday maximum 18 degrees
Not only the strong wind is special on Monday, but also the temperatures: during the day there are still 9 to 18 degrees ahead of us. In Vienna it is already 8 to 12 degrees in the morning. Hurricane-like wind gusts of 106 km/hour have already been measured there.
