An old farmer was fatally injured on Tuesday afternoon during forestry work in his forest in Rainbach im Mühlkreis. The man only felled trees there. Due to the strong wind, a tree suddenly fell and killed him. The 75-year-old would have died instantly. His wife found the body.
Due to strong gusts of wind, a 20-meter-long tree was suddenly uprooted and fell. The pensioner could no longer ignore it and was hit in the head by the treetop. Unfortunately it was no longer possible to save the old farmer; he probably died immediately.
Wife was worried
Around 1:30 p.m., his concerned wife checked the forest and found her husband’s body on the ground under the trunk. She raised the alarm, but attempts at resuscitation failed. The shocked widow had to be taken care of by the Red Cross crisis intervention team.
