Emergency test – fire brigade in “test gallop” with a horse puppet

Date:

A newly purchased rescue system was put to the test by the fire brigade in a stable. An emergency situation was simulated with a lifelike horse puppet.

It looks like a large toy horse. But that life-size specimen in a riding school in Laxenburg in the Mödling district was not intended for entertainment. Quite the opposite. The fire brigade tested the emergency situation together with the Kottingbrunn veterinary clinic. And in two senses.

A horse stable offers little space…
On the one hand, the Florianis had been called to the riding school twice in recent months. Both times a horse was no longer able to get up on its own. Due to the available space, the emergency services were unable to use the loading crane or forklift truck to help the animal.

Horses, potholes, crashed cars
For these reasons, it was decided at the end of last year, in collaboration with a riding school operator, to purchase a rescue and support system. To be able to test this in an emergency, we practiced with the horse dummy.

This modular construction of shaped aluminum tubes not only allows large animals to be lifted thanks to various attachments, but also allows accident victims to be rescued from holes or cunettes or accident vehicles to be stabilized in special emergency situations. You can also use it to secure parts of buildings.
