Tyrolean FP convinced: – vacancy fairy is “toothless bureaucracy tiger”

Date:

Only inveterate optimists believe that the vacancy tax planned by the state government will make life in Tyrol more affordable. The FPÖ sees a “total failure of the government” when it comes to housing, but admits it has no panacea of its own.

First collect how many apartments are vacant in Tyrol, then tax them: That would have been the plan. But as lawyer and Tyrolean FP boss Markus Abwerzger criticizes, there are no figures on how high the vacancy rate really is, and the tax is a toothless bureaucratic tiger hitting the wrong person, namely the middle class: “The only ones who will be the lawyers and tax advisors,” he predicts. As a result, very few, if any, homes would be mobilized. There are plenty of loopholes. You are exempt from the tax for the duration of an apartment renovation.

Abwerzger: “Bored”
For Abwerzger it is “an unbelievable infringement of property rights. I don’t think the law will stand up in the Constitutional Court.” With the decision to raise the tax in the state parliament before the summer, the state government admitted its failure. “Since 2013, rents have fallen and wages have risen. fed up with the promises of the Platter system, no apartment has become cheaper.”

“Living theme: The right place would be the National Council”
He also doesn’t have a magic formula: “I’ve been saying that since 2018”. But you have to turn the tables: “You have to ask yourself: ‘What is desirable, what is legally possible and what is efficient?'” Commercial spaces (“where it makes sense”) or in “hotel ruins”, all with special attention to medium-sized companies: “You have to take away the fear of letting private individuals”, is the key question. But Abwerzger also emphasizes that the National Council is the right place where matters should be decided.

Mid-sized companies are turning their backs on Innsbruck
Innsbruck plays a special role. Social housing only after five years of primary residence and bonus points for knowledge of German is the approach of FP Vice-BM Markus Lassenberger. “Seven percent fewer inhabitants, but 394.5 percent more foreigners in housing allocation” caused the middle class to migrate from Innsbruck. Lassenberger also criticized departmental BM Georg Willi for blocking a student campus in western Innsbruck, which could alleviate the 700-bed housing situation. The operator is a global provider. “I am ashamed of this mayor. He is the worst of all time,” FP boss Abwerzger criticized for his “ideology drive.”
