Oven heated up – newly occupied holiday home was destroyed by flames

Two Germans wanted to enjoy their holiday in Noreia above Mühlen am Zirbitzkogel in their holiday home on Ash Wednesday. But a sudden fire almost completely destroyed the house.

Two brothers from Germany had just moved to the holiday home in Noreia near Mühlen and so that it was comfortably warm, the oven was heated. “The two then went shopping and when they returned, the holiday home was already on fire,” reports local fire chief of the Hüttenberg fire brigade, Martin Liftenegger.

The fire brigades Hüttenberg, Mühlen, Mariahof, Neumarkt in der Steiermark and Perchau am Sattel, which were immediately alerted at 3:14 p.m., were only able to contain and contain the fire. The holiday home almost completely burned down and is therefore no longer habitable. The fire investigation is ongoing.
