Brutal end to couple’s argument just before Valentine’s Day: Authorities in Peru are investigating a woman who allegedly cut off her partner’s penis with a kitchen knife while he was sleeping.
The AFP news agency learned on Tuesday from medical circles that the man had undergone “a traumatic amputation” and had received medical care and psychiatric care.
The perpetrator was not arrested
The 39-year-old was not arrested because she had to care for the couple’s three-month-old child, the local prosecutor’s office said. The results of the reports would be awaited to determine the motive and circumstances.
Local media reported, citing police, that the 39-year-old had an argument with her partner this weekend after he came home drunk. She believed he had been unfaithful to her. After the argument, the man fell asleep, after which the woman took the kitchen knife and cut off her partner’s penis. “We are shocked, we want justice,” the man’s uncle told local media.

The act is reminiscent of the infamous 1993 case of John Wayne Bobbitt in the US, whose penis was cut off by his wife Lorena while he slept. According to her, he had raped her before. The limb was sewn back to Bobbitt. He later became a porn actor and then a priest.
