Trial in Graz: – 31-year-old wanted to strangle the “new man” with a belt

Date:

During the apple harvest last fall, a Romanian in eastern Styria was almost murdered by a jealous compatriot. The crazed man wrapped a strap around his opponent’s neck and pulled. The shocked ex-girlfriend had to keep an eye on everything. The attempted murder trial will begin soon.

The 31-year-old drove seven hours in a taxi from Romania to the apple village in Styria in October just to get his ex-girlfriend back. He couldn’t handle the fact that the 27-year-old chose someone else.

What he intended to do was clear because when he arrived, he took a 30 centimeter long knife from the taxi driver, banged it on the door of the harvest workers’ accommodation and entered. “If you don’t come home with me, I’ll kill you!” he allegedly shouted at his 27-year-old ‘ex’. The Romanian fainted from fright.

Witnesses rescued victims
The man, blinded by jealousy, also shouted death threats at his new partner and hit him with his fists. Then he put a strap around his neck and pulled it closed. The fact that the Romanian is still alive is only due to the fact that other harvest workers intervened.

Police dog has found murder weapon
The enraged 31-year-old eventually ran away and used his knife to smash the windows of a VW bus parked outside the house. He threw the knife into a bush. He was arrested and the knife was found hours later by police dog “Tell”.

The Romanian will now appear before a jury at the end of March on charges of attempted murder, attempted trespass, dangerous threats, attempted coercion and damage to property. He sees himself as a victim.
