Large contingent on site – police operation at the shooter’s home in Munich

Date:

After a suspected murderer from Austria was murdered by police in front of the Nazi Documentation Center in Munich on Thursday, a major operation is now underway in the Flachgau community of Neumarkt am Wallersee. According to information from “Krone”, the executive branch is said to have targeted the murderer’s home.

According to information from “Krone”, the murdered Salzburger is likely to have his residence in the community on the lake. Meanwhile, the director of the Salzburg state police, Bernhard Rausch, also confirmed the large-scale operation to the “Krone”. “There is no danger to the local population. Everything else is currently being investigated,” Rausch explains.

The 18-year-old was not allowed to carry weapons
What is currently known about the suspect is that he is an 18-year-old from Flachgau with Bosnian roots who was known to the police in February 2023. After making a dangerous threat to classmates and causing bodily harm, the young man was also accused of participating in a terrorist organization.

There was a suspicion that he was religiously radicalized, active online and interested in explosives and weapons. After completing these investigations, the Salzburg public prosecutor dropped all charges in April 2023. The responsible administrative authority confirmed a weapons ban against the then 17-year-old, which will remain in force until at least early 2028.

The large-scale barrier has now been reduced to the immediate vicinity of the apartment building. Investigators are currently present in the building. In addition to a large police contingent, the fire department, the Red Cross and an explosives team are also on site.
