The Hungarian president stumbled over his pardon. Now the former deputy head of an orphanage who was convicted of covering up his superior’s sexual abuse against children in care has spoken out, but is now enjoying his freedom again. Endre K. complained in a Facebook post about the “revenge of wicked and hateful people.”
K. wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday that he felt sympathy from many sides. At the same time, he was shocked by the “lust for revenge of wicked and hateful people” for whom the resignation of President Katalin Novák and the withdrawal of former Justice Minister Judit Varga from public life were “not enough”. In fact, protests against Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his party, organized by opposition parties, NGOs and left-wing celebrities, continue. A large gathering is planned for Friday at Heroes’ Square in Budapest.
In his post, K. also mused about a return to Transylvania (an area in Romania with a strong Hungarian minority, To.). However, the press there is already creating a mood against him to divide the population there, the educator explained.
Even before Novák’s resignation, a lengthy statement about the case had appeared on the same Facebook page. In it, the author, who identifies himself as K., writes about a “witch hunt” against the president and against himself, who is “definitely against pedophilia” and “has not committed any offense.” “I have not committed pedophile crimes or covered up anything for anyone. My conscience is clear,” the man swears. Rather, it was he who provided crucial information to reveal another perpetrator in addition to the main suspect, the former house director.
He still cannot explain why he was convicted, despite the “evidence” that supported his statements. His pardon was also not a ‘conspiracy in secret circles’, but happened, from his point of view, for understandable reasons, especially since numerous children had stated in court that they had not been pressured by K. when it came to dealing with the crime Experiences of abuse went.
Facebook profile deleted again
When the statement appeared last weekend, it was still unclear who was behind the lines. A few days later, K’s wife confirmed to Hungarian media that it was her husband’s profile. However, this was removed after the last entry on Thursday.
