Human remains have been found in a canal near Nordhorn in the German state of Lower Saxony. Body parts were packed in several bags in the water, a police spokeswoman said on Sunday.
Hikers found them on Saturday and emergency services pulled them from the water. According to the first findings, it is a male individual.
Homicide is investigating
Divers, sonar boats and drones were used in the search. A hit squad has been assembled, but the investigation has only just begun. Autopsy results are not expected until Sunday, officials said.
