Major fire brigade operation in the municipality of Thörl in Upper Styria: A remote residential building completely burned down on Monday evening. 70 Florianis fought the flames for hours. However, the whereabouts of the residents are uncertain.
Around 2 a.m., passers-by noticed that a remote residential building in St. Ilgen (Bruck-Murzzüschlag district) was on fire and alerted the emergency services.
Burned to the ground
Nine fire brigades with 70 men took action and fought the flames. According to police, the house and an outbuilding burned to the ground. Firefighting efforts were still ongoing on Monday afternoon. The cause of the fire is still unclear.
Resident not yet found
It is unclear where the homeowners are. “The house is largely occupied. It is possible that the residents were outside at the time of the fire. “But we cannot rule out that they were in the house,” said police spokesman Fritz Grundnig. Officials from the State Criminal Investigation Department have started an investigation.
