A vehicle fire caused additional disruption and a closure in Tyrol during the travel weekend: On Sunday afternoon, the car of a Frenchman (28) suddenly burst into flames on the Zirler Berg (Innsbruck-Land district). The driver and two other passengers were able to get to safety in time.
Around 3:15 p.m., the 28-year-old Frenchman was driving his car on the B177 Seefelder Straße from the Inntal towards Seefeld when the indicator light suddenly flashed on Zirler Berg and smoke poured from the engine compartment.
Prisoners escaped in horror
The driver stopped immediately. He and his two companions – Germans aged 29 and 56 – were able to get out of the vehicle before it caught fire. The car then completely burned out. Police said all three occupants escaped unhurt and escaped unharmed.
B177 closed to all traffic
The alerted fire brigade was able to quickly bring the situation under control. However, the B177 was closed to all traffic until 5 p.m. Passenger traffic had to be diverted.
