After the body of a burned woman was discovered in a forest in the Hernals district of Vienna on Sunday afternoon, the identity of the dead woman has now been clarified. This concerns a 63-year-old woman who was previously reported missing by her relatives.
According to the current state of the investigation, negligence on the part of third parties can be ruled out, police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger said on Tuesday. However, the results of the autopsy are still pending.
Suitcase and wine bottle found
The completely burned body was discovered on Sunday afternoon by a walking dog in the forest near Schottenhof in Vienna-Hernals. The woman had a suitcase with a key and bottles of wine with her. The body lay in the bushes near Amundsenstrasse. An arson dog from the police dog unit helped secure evidence at the site.
Currently, the signs point to suicide or an accident. It is unlikely that there are any witnesses to the incident.
