A law enforcement officer suffered burns to both eyes in an attack by a woman and required hospital treatment. The well-known injector has now been convicted of serious bodily harm and resistance to state authority. The sentence was lenient, but not yet legally binding.
It sounded like a routine operation, but it almost turned into a disaster for a police officer (33) when he wanted to question a tenant (31) about a dispute between neighbors in Linz on July 26. Loud music could be heard coming from the woman’s apartment. Together with a colleague, he rang the doorbell and shouted: “Open the door, police!”
The 31-year-old initially did not respond. After a while, the music was turned off and the apartment door opened slightly, after which the woman suddenly took out a spray can and sprayed paint into the police officer’s face. The officer suffered chemical burns to both eyes and required hospital treatment. The 31-year-old was charged with serious bodily harm and resisting state authority.
On Tuesday she had to appear before Judge Oliver Schoiswohl in the Linz Regional Court. The mentally ill woman was brought in by law enforcement officers from the Neuromed Campus, where she is currently housed. “I plead guilty in terms of the charges,” assured the woman from Linz.

She then explained to the judge how the serious abuse could have taken place. “I was transferred from Rotterdam to Linz and was quite angry because my mobile phone had been stolen,” said the suspect. She also mistook the paint can for a lighter gas can. “If you spray someone in the eye, they can go blind,” Schoiswohl noted.
Injury
The verdict – conditional for six months – is not yet legally binding. The police officer submitted a claim for damages of 1,050 euros, which was accepted by the judge.
