An Australian was attacked by a giant kangaroo on the street in his hometown and fought a six-minute duel with the marsupial. The kangaroo attempted to attack the 59-year-old’s small dogs on his property. He then intervened, the animal went mad and kept trying to hit and kick him. The kangaroo bit his finger, among other things.
Cliff, 59, from Heathcote, Victoria, told Australian television about the unusual encounter on Tuesday. He got some bruises, but otherwise he’s fine.
“Crazy animal” attacked Mann again and again
“I thought this guy was serious, he’s going to hit me hard if I don’t fight back – so I threw him to the ground,” Cliff said. But the animal got back up and kept attacking merrily, as can be seen in the video. It was a “crazy six-foot-tall kangaroo,” the Australian said. It was only after more than six minutes that the animal finally let go of him and jumped away unharmed.
The man is not mad at the marsupial. Australia is the land of kangaroos, “we built our roads on their land,” he said. He has now learned that you should not get too close to kangaroos, because then they can suddenly panic.
Not the first kangaroo attack this year
Just a month ago, a woman was attacked and injured by a large specimen while playing golf in Queensland. In March, a teenage girl was riding her moped in Victoria when a kangaroo suddenly jumped out of the woods and knocked her off the bike. Also in March, a three-year-old girl was seriously injured by a kangaroo at her home in New South Wales.
