The Emantzipa aid programme, which was approved by the Basque government last December, entered into force this week. On average, young people in the Basque Autonomous Community are emancipated at the age of 29.7, three years later than in Europe.
Within 48 hours 1777 people have requested new assistance from the Basque government, aimed at promoting the emancipation from young people 25 to 29 years.
Last Tuesday, February 20, the deadline for applying for the new support, which consists of the monthly payment of 300 Eurofor a maximum of 24 months, as long as the rental, mortgage or personal loan costs for a free home are proven.

What does it consist of?
This involves direct assistance of 300 euros per month for people between the ages of 25 and 29. To receive the aid, the maximum number of residents of the house receiving it will be three people. You can charge for a maximum of 24 consecutive months.
The assistance will be compatible with, among other things, the Gaztelagun program, the income guarantee income (RGI) and the Minimum Living Income (IMV), the supplementary housing allowance or emergency social assistance.
How to apply for help
Assistance can be requested online or in person. If you have any questions, you can consult them via WhatsApp on the telephone number 646 10 91 26. In the first case, you must have the electronic identification of B@kQ – it can be requested on the Izenpe portal – and you must have access to the electronic headquarters of the Basque government.
The personal application takes place at the Zuzenean office.
What documentation must be submitted?
– Copy of the rental or sales contract.
– Proof of the last payment of rent, mortgage or personal loan.
Requirements and incompatibilities
– Be between 25 and 29 years old
– The annual income of the applicants must be between 3,000 and 28,000 euros.
– Proof of a rental or home purchase contract
– Be registered in a BAC municipality at least one year before the application or demonstrate that you have been registered in the BAC for three consecutive years in the past ten years.
– Young people who have social housing (VPO) for rent or for sale will not have access to the support.
